FAQ's

Q.          WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT MY PHOTO SESSION?

A.          A session typically lasts between 45 minutes - 1.5 hours (depending on your choice of package). My sessions start between 1 – 1.5 hours prior to sunset to capture your family in the beautiful soft light. I only schedule one session per day so no one feels rushed. My aim is to capture the true connection and beautiful moments between your family. I use a mix of poses and prompts to achieve this and encourage lots of natural family interaction which helps dads and bigger kids in particular feel comfortable. I will never make you feel awkward or silly, I want you to be able to relax and enjoy your session.

Q.          CAN WE HAVE OUR SESSION EARLIER IN THE DAY AS I HAVE A BABY OR TODDLER?

A.          My aim as a natural light, golden hour photographer is to capture beautiful, sunset images of your family – and that is why you are thinking of booking me! Earlier in the day the light is harsher and brighter and causes shadows on faces and the sun doesn't have that beautiful glow earlier in the day. A few times in the past I have been convinced to shoot earlier and both myself and my clients have been less happy with the images expecting them to look like they were taken at sunset. I have a young child and I understand that it's sometimes tricky to delay their dinner time or keep them up past bedtime, especially if they are bad sleepers or they are currently being sleep trained, but trust me it's worth it for the images and I've never encountered a child that didn't enjoy most of their photo session. If you are still concerned that your kids wont love it, book your session in early Spring or late Autumn (or even Winter), when sessions can start as early as 3.30pm.

Q.          WILL I BE SAFE DURING MY SESSION?

A.          Extremely! I use a long lens mostly so I am a very long way from you and your family to keep us all safe. I am fully insured, fully immunised and have a current working with children's check. I will also send you the photography authority form prior to the shoot so you can send it back via email so there is absolutely no physical contact whatsoever!

Q.          WHEN CAN I EXPECT MY PHOTOS?

A.          Your images will be delivered via an online gallery and you will receive the link to view between 1 and 2 weeks from the date of your photo shoot, with photo books and prints usually taking 4-6 weeks from date of order.

Q.          WHAT WILL WE WEAR?

A.          The first thing many people think about after booking their shoot is what to wear! First and foremost I want you to be comfortable and to look and feel yourself. There is no good looking at a photo on your wall and thinking “that doesn’t even look like me!” All clothing with natural tones and textures work really well. Long flowing dresses or skirts for women work really well with all body types, as the movement and flow of the fabric also makes a beautiful feature and can catch the light. Bear in mind high splits, short skirts or thin fabric may lead to a wardrobe malfunction! When it comes to selecting a colour palette try and choose around 3 or less complimentary colours. Bare feet are the best but sandals can also be worn. Clothing to dodge are anything with big logos, anything with offensive text, brightly patterned, neon or black. These don't photograph well and detract from the photos. My favourite colours at the moment are orange, ochre, red, mustard, yellow, blue and white – anything earthy. Bohemian style clothing is always beautiful. If you are someone who is a ‘jeans person’ just where your jeans and a nice flowing boho top, a linen top or similar – but remember, just be yourself!

Q.          WHAT HAPPENS IF THE WEATHER IS NOT GOOD OR IF WE ARE SICK?

A.          If it looks like it's going to rain during your shoot, I'll be in touch the day prior and we'll communicate right up until the last possible moment to decide if we reschedule. Cloudy overcast skies can be great, but rain isn't much fun at the beach! If you are sick, please try and give me 24 hours' notice and we can reschedule for when everyone is feeling better. If it does rain I reschedule and don’t conduct the shoot inside instead.

Q.          WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

A.          I live in Hallidays Point on the Mid-North Coast of NSW. I prefer to photograph families on the beach at either Diamond Beach, Seascape or Blackhead Beach but will also travel to Forster. I'm also happy to travel further, but longer journeys will incur a travel fee, so please ask me when booking.

Q.          HOW DO I BOOK?

A.          To get the ball rolling please either email me at info@candcphotography.com.au or contact me by phone on 0428422843.
